Eco’s name is short for “Ecology”. He is an unusually large Scarlet.
You might notice that Eco has no highly visible facial feathers (Small feathers under the eye.) This is normal for adult Scarlets. Babies have some thin facial feathers, but as they mature, these tiny feathers disappear.
Eco is maturing into a very inquisitive yet sensitive bird. Scarlets have a propensity to nip with the tip of their beak. We have worked extremely hard to minimize this tendency. He still forgets every once in a while and gives you what he thinks is a ”love nip”. As humans, we don’t find it an appropriate behavior.
